Bilinear Interpolation
Bilinear interpolation is a form of interpolation of images ? such as texturemaps ? that works by performing linear interpolation along one axis, and then along the other axis, such that both horizontal and vertical aspects are interpolated.
Interpolation is used to map a display pixel to the closest possible to display point of the texture. So that, as the texture moves closer to and further from the view point, the texture encounters minimal distortion and minimal pixelation.
